Researchers at the @otago, led by @warring_l & @Hazel_Sisson_, are tackling kiwifruit canker caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) using innovative endolysin fusion proteins: https://t.co/8TBpx9BUMW @ASBMB@jbiolchem
This work was begun at the end of 2019 in collaboration with @BriersYves. @PeterFineran & I even visited Ghent just before COVID to get the cloning underway. Huge thanks to all of the co-authors who contributed to the work along the way, it's a great end to a productive collab.
Massive congrats to @Hazel_Sisson_ for her outstanding mahi & PhD grad yesterday. In a case of perfect timing our final paper from Hazel's PhD was published online in JBC yesterday as well! 🥳(https://t.co/ak8wuMLDVt). Please check it out, I have given a quick summary in a 🧵 👇
Overall, we found our results pretty exciting and think that this line of endolysin engineering still holds promise in the fight against AMR. We envision that it will be a great way to repurpose transducing or lysogenic phages not fit for therapeutic application.
Meet one of our Invited Speakers: Chase Beisel is a professor with a focus in RNA synthetic biology at the Helmholtz Institute. It’s not too late to register now for CRISPR 2025 in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand. https://t.co/A91LNJxJqa.
Super excited that our paper on isoniazid resistance in M. tuberculosis is now published in @NatureComms . Massive effort from all involved, especially lead author Cecilia Wang!!

President Biden should resign as an act of protest tomorrow so Kamala Harris could be sworn in as the first female president until January.
That would make Trump 48 and ruin that stupid hat of his.
Can we get this trending.
Bacteriophages, phage proteins and organic acids offer potential as biocontrols for bacterial fruit pathogens. This piece outlines current advances and future directions in developing sustainable methods for pest management ➡️ https://t.co/4MMqcs24tT
Excited to share our last collab paper in @NatureComms on the structure & interference mechanism of the mysterious 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗜𝗩-𝗔 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗣𝗥-𝗖𝗮𝘀 system!! 🧬
