What would be the consequences of a semipermanent hostility between Canada and the U.S.?
@imkahloon: "They’re massive trading partners with each other, so it would hurt the Canadians more because they’re more dependent on us than we are on them, but it would hurt us as well."
This isn’t just about Canada’s prime minister anymore. Look at Davos. Look at the chorus of global elites, bureaucrats, billionaires, and unelected power-brokers lining up to take swings at Donald Trump. When that many “important” people all agree on one thing, you should immediately ask yourself why.
Trump isn’t being attacked because he’s reckless or crude. He’s being attacked because he refuses to kneel. He stands in direct opposition to the so-called “New World Order” that’s been quietly built for decades—one that centralizes power, erodes national sovereignty, weakens borders, and reduces citizens to managed subjects. Davos isn’t about cooperation; it’s about control. And Trump is a problem because he disrupts that plan.
They know the truth: to dominate the West, they must first break the United States. The U.S. is the last major obstacle—a nation still armed with free speech, constitutional protections, and a deeply ingrained resistance to top-down rule. That’s why America is constantly under attack, culturally, economically, and politically. That’s why Trump is treated as an existential threat rather than just another politician.
You don’t have to like him. You don’t have to agree with everything he says or does. But you cannot deny what he represents: resistance. The U.S. remains the freest nation on Earth, and if it falls, the rest of us don’t stand a chance. Look around—France, Belgium, the UK, Venezuela—once-free societies hollowed out by elite arrogance and centralized power, all told it was for their own good.
Trump will be gone one day. That’s inevitable. But what must endure is the United States as a free, sovereign nation. If America falls, the dominoes will follow—and there will be no one left to push back. This is bigger than one man. This is about whether freedom itself still has a defender.
A good response to Carney's Davos speech.
"Mark Carney cannot simply return to Parliament and expect, as he has for the past year, that re-announcing projects or creating new bureaucracies will suffice to fix Canada’s woefully inadequate military, underdeveloped natural resources, and entrenched internal trade barriers. Small ball and tinkering is not going to cut it."
Must watch! Gordon Chang, China expert, with Erin Molan on Carney's China deal
"So at this particular time, it's important for Trump, I think, to lower the temperature and also for Carney to understand what's in Canada's best interest and not continue a spat with Washington when it's not in the interest of Canadians."
Molan "I don't think (Carney) quite understands" Xi's definition of "New World Order
Chang "Well, China has pushed Ottawa around and it has penetrated the Canadian political system."
"(Carney) gave a sort of very bland definition of what he intended with that phrase (New World Order)"
"But I think Canadians are going to not let this drop because obviously this is a phrase which has a lot of emotional impact and it's not really compatible with a democratic society"
"And we have seen from Trump officials talk about the China Canada deal in pretty grim terms."
"Well, if these (Chinese EVs) aren't safe in the United States, they're certainly not safe in Canada either.

"If Carney does not deliver, the global capital markets have had it with us. I can't say that strongly enough. I will get the heck out of Canada if Carney does not come through in the next three weeks."

HOW ABOUT IT PREMIER HOGAN...MAKES THE MOU SIMPLE. The Government needed only to have demanded the right to transmit CF power through Quebec and to share revenues to CFLco based on what the market is prepared to pay for electricity. That's an arrangement everyone can understand.

If #Bluejays fans want to know the quality of men that Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins are. They were at the game yesterday. Decisions came from them. Did they answer tough questions in front of media? No. They made John handle it all. That is the quality of men they are. #Cowards
