I mostly agree with you @BrianJBerletic with regards to America’s China strategy, but I think you need to consider the possibility that the US has just lost control of its own foreign policy and Israel is now in the driver’s seat (not just influencing). What you’ve articulated as US actions now aligning with its well documented goal of breaking down those multi-polar pillars years of published foreign policy papers, also align with Israel’s goals of destroying all gulf state economies to extend its region hegemony. The US could have throttled oil exports to China from the gulf without attacking Iran by making up some excuse about China supporting a state sponsor of terror. Taking this approach the US would have preserved the petrodollar by continuing gulf oil and gas exports to Europe and the rest of Asia, and Iran would not have dared taking control of the strait and destroying US gulf bases. These are massive US losses that could have been avoided. But Israel mouse-trapped the US into attacking Iran KNOWING it would retaliate by closing the strait, attacking US bases and ending the petrodollar. Again, I agree with you that Israel has been America’s tool and forward operating base to implement US interests in the region, but I think that just flipped and now Israel controls US actions going forward, and many of them still align with US’s China strategy. Let me know your thoughts.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

When this chapter of history is written, I believe 2/28/2026 will mark
1. The end of US empire
2. The birth of Iran as a new superpower
3. The remaking of the global financial and trading system

Let me explain. First, Iran has proved they have neutralized US global military force projection. We have been uncontested projecting power in every corner of the planet since the end of WW2 due to our formidable naval and air power. Iran has defeated this with advanced missiles, drones, an asymmetric naval fleet configuration, all effectively combined with massive strategic depth and a resilient and largely supportive population. Why does this end US empire? There are two reasons. It’s only a matter of time before other non-nuclear* nations acquire this capability that renders our carrier strike groups and air assets ineffectual. More importantly, Iran has just seized control of transit access to the most valuable concentration of energy resources on the planet (the Persian Gulf), and I see no reason why they would give that up. This effectively ends the petrodollar, the foundation of US financial hegemony since Nixon ended Bretton Woods.

So how does that make Iran a new military and economic superpower? In addition to some of the world’s largest proven oil reserves Iran has a large, young and highly educated population, advanced and low-tech manufacturing capabilities, all achieved under the most punishing western sanctions ever imposed on any country. Once those sanctions and trade restrictions are lifted, and they WILL be lifted after this war ends, economic growth will explode. Plus, Iran WILL monetize transit access for ALL Gulf region oil and gas, in addition to benefiting from the unfettered flow of Iranian oil to global markets. Finally, other countries will be lining up to purchase Iranian military tech to similarly insulate their nations from external threats. All this will propel Iran to become a top ten  (possibly top 5) GDP nation with the next 10 years.

The third and final point flows logically from the first two. The fall of the petrodollar will lead to the rise and rapid adoption of alternative payments systems and liberate particularly global south economies to trade more freely with one another and establish more favorable trade arrangements with the west. European economies will rapidly decline, and the US will retreat and fortify in the western hemisphere.

I’ll end by saying that I believe that in the long run this is good for us. As an American and a US Army vet, I desperately want to see us be successful and focus on America and Americans First. Empire is neither sustainable nor moral. It’s time to live up to the greatness our founders envisioned for us, and that did not include planet-wide force projection to sustain global hegemony. We declared independence from an empire not so that we become one.

*Iran is proving for the first time that a non-nuclear nation cannot be messed with. I think this is huge, and could have long term positive implications for nuclear non-proliferation.

These immoral, deep state neocons have been violating that moral document for decades. But I agree, it’s their humanity too.
