I hate that this has to be said. The @NWS is critical for American weather safety. Period. I have personally met and know dozens of meteorologists from NWS offices across the country. They are driven, caring people who have spent years and sometimes decades serving the public.

Ever wondered just how large a radar tower's radome is? Here's a photo of some of our staff members standing next to it for reference! The radome was temporarily removed this morning so the radar pedestal can be replaced as part of the NEXRAD Service Life Extension Program.

If you're curious what the stratosphere feels like, look no further than the #MtWashington summit (6289 ft). Closest sounding today had a tropopause much lower than that (~4200 ft).

Current conditions there? -35F, 101mph wind with 114mph gusts (that's a -92F windchill). 🥶
