Iโm completely convinced at this point that โrunning out of moneyโ is very rarely a true killer of an pre-A startup (though itโs often used as an excuse)
Iโve invested 50k (and even less; tiny check) as a first check into a number of companies where my check was the only outside capital for long time (or in certain cases, ever). None of them died.
Real reasons most seed-stage companies shut down (whether they are well-capitalized or not) imo:
> co-founder dispute
> attractive job alternatives (being a founder is hard)
> unable to find business validation
> loss of interest or faith in the problem space
(I think these are also risks you can diligence somewhat reliably at pre-seed)
