@sheshapatangi1 Later, when Chittaranjan Das requested him to reconsider, he still declined. It was only after Mahendra Nandy—Ullaskar’s maternal uncle and mentor—sent him a brief two-line letter that he finally agreed to submit the appeal.
@sheshapatangi1 This appeal is quite different from the mercy petition you are referring to. Ullaskar Dutta was in fact the last person to seek a reduction of his death sentence. Initially, he was unwilling and refused to make any such appeal before the judge.
@sheshapatangi1 From Garden House 14 members were arrested. Ullas was one of them. Police raids happened at the other places of Kolkata including Scott Lane, 15 Gopi Ballav Lane , 134 Harrison road etc. Khudiram got arrested from Waini Station.

Ullaskar Dutt was born in 1885 into an educated family in the village of Kaliakachha, in the Tipperah district of undivided Bengal (now in Bangladesh).
In 1903, he joined the Presidency college and fell in love with Leela, Bipin Chandra Pal's daughter.
After the Alipore Bomb Case, Ullaskar was sent to Cellular Jail in Andamans.
By 1909, he had been sentenced to death. Though the sentence was commuted, he was exiled to the Cellular Jail in the Andamans.
While he was in jail, Leela vowed to wait for him.
Between 1910 and 1911, Ullaskar was subjected to brutal torture & inhumane treatment— electric shocks that fractured his sanity.
His screams could be heard across the jail by other inmates.
At times he saw floating visions of Leela drifting in front of him. In a sense, this somehow kept up his wavering will to live.
After several days, Ullaskar was sent back to his cell. He still continued to suffer bouts of high fever and spasms His body and spirit finally crushed, he contemplated suicide
Ullaskar was then transferred to a Government Lunatic Asylum in Madras (now Chennai).
This was 1912 and he would spend the next eight years in the institution. The authorities did not bother to inform his family about his whereabouts for many years. So, neither his parents nor Leela knew what had happened to him.
After his release from the asylum, he managed to track Leela down, only to discover that she had gotten married, as she presumed he was de@d.
Consequently, he resumed his revolutionary activities.
Years later, he learned that Leela had become a widow and was paralyzed from the waist down.
He then married her in Calcutta.
Life in Calcutta was difficult & Ullaskar could not find a suitable job. Leela needed a lot of care. So, the couple moved to Silchar in Assam where he worked as a teacher for refugee children and cared for her until her passing.
After her death, Ullaskar moved back to spend time at his old Anushilan Samiti akhada where he died in May 1965.
