🇿🇼🇿🇦 Our 2026 #WhatYouthWant Leadership School brought together participants from all provinces who engaged with a module on: Youth Solidarity and Urgency in SADC.

➡️The session was led by Bonolo Mkagale🇿🇦 from our partner organization, @CHR_HumanRights, and the University of Pretoria.

➡️Here is a glimpse of her opening slides:

"Zimbabwe's own freedom was not won alone. Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, and Botswana, the Frontline States, hosted liberation movements, sheltered refugees, and absorbed retaliation from the apartheid regime, including economic sabotage, cross-border raids, and military attacks. They did this knowing it would cost them because they understood that no single nation's freedom was secure while its neighbors remained unfree.

This is not just history. It is the foundational grammar of the region. SADC was born not as a trade bloc but as a solidarity project."

🟦 The WELEAD team, joins the community of Kariba, both urban and Nyaminyami Rural District, and the nation of Zimbabwe at large following the capsizing of the Mbuya Nehanda Ferry, in Lake Kariba, on the 11th of August 2026.

The accident claimed more than 94 lives and the search of more people who lost their lives is still going on.

Our thoughts are with all of the families affected and we mourn together with the nation of Zimbabwe. #RIDA #LakeKaribaDisaster #MbuyaNehanda
