Emmanuel Sitima, the former President of the Zimbabwe National Students Union, was yesterday, denied bail by the High Court. He remains in good spirits, and knows that he is just being persecuted for speaking firmly against Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3. We continue to call for his release. #FreeSitima

➡️Section 56 guarantees equality and non-discrimination, affirming that no young person should face unfair treatment or exclusion based on their age, background, or circumstances.

➡️Together, these sections provide us with the legal rights to engage fully in our national governance processes without fear of discrimination or marginalization.

➡️As youth, we have an undeniable entitlement to participate, influence, and contribute to shaping the future of our nation, and these rights must be actively protected and upheld at all times.

➡️The WELEAD team continues to stand in unwavering solidarity with Takunda Mhuka, a young Zimbabwean who remains behind bars. Takunda is scheduled to appear in court again on 24 April after being arrested while reporting a case of assault.

➡️We reiterate our commitment to advocating for youth rights and strongly denounce the unjust arrests of young leaders across the nation. Every young person deserves fair treatment, justice, and the basic human right to bail.

➡️Takunda Mhuka’s situation highlights the urgent need to protect the rights of young leaders and ensure justice for all. We call on authorities to uphold human rights and release Takunda on bail.

We are receiving disturbing reports that @EmmanuelSitima7 our 13th NEC President got abducted this morning in Mabvuku by 8 suspected state agents. He was taken by a blue Honda with reg number AHG 1994. A police Mahindra is also reported to have been in the area at the time of his abduction. We call for his immediate and unconditional release NOW.
