Tornadoes destroyed Western KY a few years ago and my organization responded by filling 3 churches up with supplies like a Walmart as well as ensuring generators got out to those who need power for lifesaving equipment. We worked over 80 work orders from local churches.

I went to federal prison for this because unbeknownst to me an investigation had started several months before for volunteering too much as a disabled Veteran. They actually used this disaster response as evidence against me.

@amyforsandiego When my husband and I went to visit our daughter and SIL, our Uber driver said she was looking to leave the state due to all the homeless people there, stealing from yards of lifelong residents, while being given free vouchers for just about everything. Sad.

After a 5-day federal trial, the judge who convicted me looked at a packed courtroom and said this from the bench:

“The work you’ve done with Veteran’s Club, what I’ve read over and over in those letters, I think it’s all true. I think that’s who you are.”

The federal judge who presided over my trial affirmed the truth of the 69 character letters submitted on my behalf.

The system failed me.

My prayer is that this administration continues fighting weaponization and stands with veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving this country during and after service.

I don’t continue to fight simply because I personally experienced injustice. I fight for the hundreds and thousands who don’t have a platform and don’t have the strength. Of course I want justice and restoration, but it’s so that I can get back into the arena for others.
