Redskins are back and on a much better team! I filed multiple REDSKINS trademark applications at the USPTO on behalf of the family of Chief Two Guns. The applications are in my name, until I complete the legal lift of canceling the NFL’s abandoned marks through TTAB.
I think this is for the best, @MariaBartiromo. These legacy networks are dying, which is why we’re seeing so much consolidation as they lose viewers and advertising dollars to digital platforms.
Build out further your own digital media presence, and members of Congress will come to you. This is an opportunity, not a loss.
Social media has democratized the news. I started covering Capitol Hill entirely on my own, and within a year, I broke the Mitch McConnell story and built a massive cross-platform following. You don’t need a legacy network to build credibility, an audience, or access anymore. They needed you, not the other way around. And that’s their massive loss.
Raise your hand if you’ll miss watching @MariaBartiromo on Fox News.
I certainly will.
She can always be counted on to offer insights on important issues that others ignore.
Chief Earl Old Person Sr. A sculptured bust sit’s in the State Capitol in Helena, Montana U.S.A. He is our last great Chief, my great grandparents and my grandfather James “Jim” White Calf Jr. bestowed him the White Calf Chieftainship in 1978. After the ceremony, it was followed by celebration, songs and dancing. Chief Old Person helped shape our policies by growing up in my grandfather’s and great grandparents traditional ways and when they talked to our government leaders, he interpreted for them. Chief Old Person as a child and teens was the first Native American who joined the Boy Scouts of America🇺🇸 even traveled to Paris, France with the group also traveling to different countries throughout his life and always dressed in our traditional Blackfeet regalia and his Warbonnet. Some exciting personal news: I’m officially joining @RealTruth as Chief Political Correspondent!
What started as independent reporting on Capitol Hill is entering a new chapter. I’ll continue digging into the stories that matter, asking the questions that need to be asked, and bringing you along with me in real time.
Capitol Hill and beyond… here we go! https://t.co/DhTuS9QcFg
Aww, that’s Rick! He’s always outside the House office buildings when they’re voting. He says he’s going to run for president and already has several congressional endorsements.
Great news for those of you serving in the military or working for the federal government: a government shutdown has been averted, at least through December 11.
What happens next could depend heavily on the midterm elections. If voters deliver split control of Congress, we could see another continuing resolution in December to carry the government into the new year and through the swearing-in of the new Congress.
From there, we’ll have to see who ultimately controls the House and Senate, and what that means for the next funding fight.
A little taste of what my Hollywood coverage could look like!
Thank you to Bader Media @BaderMedia for having me conduct this incredible interview with blues-rock superstar Joe Bonamassa.
Moving forward, during congressional recesses and weekend breaks from Capitol Hill, I’ll be expanding my coverage into Hollywood, but focusing on the real Hollywood: incredible artists like Joe Bonamassa, indie filmmakers, up-and-coming talent, and the people working behind the scenes who make the magic happen.
Capitol Hill to Hollywood. Stay tuned for more!
The family of the man whose image represented the Redskins logo wants everything back.
This wasn’t just a brand. It represents the legacy of a man and his father, who came to Washington after members of their Blackfeet Tribe were killed by the U.S. military, determined to protect their people from suffering the same fate.
Now their descendants are asking the @Commanders for one thing: hear their voices.
The family does not believe the Redskins was racist, and the history deserves an honest examination. Smithsonian Institution senior linguist Ives Goddard researched the term’s origins and found evidence that Native Americans themselves used the term in early recorded history.
For years, activists and nonprofits raised money while campaigning against the name. Where are those voices now that this Native American family is finally being heard?
And where is mainstream media? Why won’t they simply call the family and hear their story?
Bring back the name. Bring back the brand. Bring Native American voices back into the conversation. @SteveDaines@DarinThacker
As I look to expand my coverage from Capitol Hill into Hollywood, I want to highlight the real Hollywood: the inspirational musicians, actors, filmmakers, and behind the scenes creatives who dedicate their lives to advancing the arts in America.
I recently had the opportunity to interview blues legend Joe Bonamassa @JBONAMASSA, a longtime friend and protégé of B.B. King who remarkably first opened for King at just 12 years old. Conversations like that represent the stories I want to tell: stories about artistry, mentorship, perseverance, legacy, and the people keeping important American art forms alive.
My goal is to bring these voices, stories, and concerns to Capitol Hill while bringing conversations from Washington back to the creative community, opening a meaningful dialogue about how we can revitalize Hollywood by refocusing on the people behind the magic.
Hollywood has always been about more than celebrity. It is about creativity, craftsmanship, perseverance, and the countless people whose work helps shape American culture, many of whom rarely receive the attention they deserve from mainstream media. Those are the people I want to give a platform, and those are the stories I want to tell.
