@afneil It's you saying that Labour thinks that. 'Labour' is a political party, not a sentient being who has consciousness and therefore 'thinks'. Some people in Labour are hopeful, others not so convinced. The party will arrive at a consensus. Let's hope it's good for the country.
@patriot89q@ColMoeDavis 'What about Biden?'. Interesting that people are ok with corruption so long as they can point out it happened before, and its thier politician being scrutinised. Rank hypocrisy. You should only be interested in rooting out corruption wherever it is. This is cult, not democracy.
@JuliaHB1 It's not a very honourable stance gleefully relishing in the chance that your politicians and government are not going to live up to the hopes of the nation. It does not matter what side you are on. You have to hope for the best with whomever is in charge.
@gaslighter@TheGriftReport If Reform had won, would you be saying, oh something shady going on there. ? Probably not, but where do they get their money from? Overseas billionaires who have no stake in this society at all. I call that shady.
@ZubyMusic Taxation is an important part of a civilised society as it enables the creation of an environment that is good for all to live in. In a society that has a sovereign wealth fund based on oil, there is more leeway on tax. Unfortunately Thatcher sold ours off.
@travelingflying The problem with this statement is that *all* cultures evolve. They are constantly changing, renewing, and, yes, dying. What is the 'German' culture? It can be viewed over time very differently, so to try to assert it is one unchanging thing is fundamentally flawed.
He knows this
@travelingflying What's going to happen when AI takes everyone's jobs? I thought Elon was for redistribution of wealth, saying people won't need to work anymore. Looks like he's rowing back on that one. As to what they spend it on, I wonder what Elon would spend it on? Health care for the poor?
@Maxcutty13@afneil There is 1 simple truth, the bombing and war shouldn't have happened. Negotiations with Iran on enriched material, inspections, and sanctions should have happened. Trump is playing his games like he did with Casinos in Atlantic City, bankrupting them many times. Art of the deal?!
@KonstantinKisin This is meaningless tripe. If there is a massive wealth gap between the very few and the many, we know what happens, just look throughout history. The gap must be controlled. Call it envy, call it fairness, call it whatever you want; it's required to ensure things don't get ugly.
@LucyTCWife@writethewrongs2 Words are words when spoken. They fade quickly. The act of writing something down is a deliberate action. It's also much more permanent. It is very different from speech. People should not think of them as the same and should take a lot more care about what they put on the record
@JuliaHB1 This is all about personality. If a politician you admire did this you'd be singing their praises, but as it's Starmer, the motivation must be something else. It's hypocritical. We should focus on what politicians do, not what traits you want to superimpose on them.
@afneil When does one person's wealth become too much? You might argue that wealth is not a zero-sum game, but political influence is. In the future trillionaires might be like millionairs now, with all wealth being concentrated in a few people who run everything, is that what you want?
@JuliaHB1 He has point which you ignore. Should a single individual have that much power. How we organise as a human race should ensure we are not in a 'winner takes it all' scenario. With ai, trillionaires may become like today's millionaires unless we get a grip on this.
@Clarsonimus Another idiot. Ice that is submerged does not increase the water level, but ice that is held outside of the water that melts, that is a different matter.
@dalvanox@ditty_design@RockChartrand I think the two groups you posit overlap. The ruling class are those who are injected into positions of power because their wealth or their class demands it. They are groomed for this. The 'establishment' is the people and mechanisms that enable it.
@A1an_M@Ed_Miliband Ah! Finally someone in authority, an expert on the world's climate, telling it as it is.
A single temperature measurement at a specific time, debunking decades of climate science.
Wonderful thing about common sense, it's not that common!
@latimeralder These completed stupid arguments. Anyone can take a single statistic and say 'look, it's all rubish', or 'we're all going to die'. Climate change deniers do it, and eco warriors do it. Just look at the trends. It's getting warmer and it is linked to human driven carbon emissions.
@latimeralder RCP8.5 was a worst-case scenario. It was debunked by the scientific community, the same community that is saying that climate change is a severe and active global crisis.
But I guess you only take one point and then ignore the rest to conclude there is no problem. 1+1=3 right?
@TRobinsonNewEra Definitely the 60's as there wasn't social media, and people like you had a much smaller platform. Also, people weren't just taken in by empty rehtoic such as the likes of you spout on an hourly basis. They probably also had much better critical thinking skills.
