On March 1, 1858, a pregnant farmwoman named Catherine Latapie walked to the spring in the dark

For eighteen months two fingers on her right hand had been paralyzed.

She put that hand in the muddy spring Bernadette had uncovered only days earlier.

And was healed!

3. For eighteen months the last two fingers of her right hand were dead to her. She could not open them.

She could not close them. A farm woman’s hand, cut in half.

She put that hand in water that still looked like ditch mud.

The fingers moved. She bent them. She stretched them. Her frozen hand was movable again!

She walked the same road back with those fingers working, and that morning she delivered a son. Jean-Baptiste who went on to become a priest.

I’d say be careful as framing can also convert an earlier social mismatch into adult superiority.

Gifted kids often show asynchronous developmen yes.. where their cognition race ahead of their social-emotional skills

-which produces isolation and the feeling of being un understandable.

Calling that pain later “some people just don’t have it in them”

Simply turns childhood outcast experience into a virtue instead of addressing the original difficulty relating.

I made that mistake and had to learn that if I am so smart..

and they are so dumb.. then it should be easier for me to figure out how to relate to them

- not harder - and if it was more difficult for me, that wasn’t a sign of a strength

The illness has to be real, serious, and clearly diagnosed.

The healing has to be sudden, complete, and lasting.

Treatment cannot explain it.

And it has to hold for years.
