During the North West Town Hall meeting today in Katsina, I responded to the claim made by the Minister of the FCT, HE Nyesom Wike that the president gave Oyo State N50 billion to upgrade the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan. I stated that the claim is false. The Ibadan airport upgrade is being fully funded by the Oyo State Government.

Do you know that before Seyi Makinde came into office in 2019, Oyo had not conducted a mass teacher recruitment since 2014?

However in his first tenure, his administration recruited 5,000 teachers and 692 Education Officers, alongside health workers.

In his second tenure, another 14,500 teachers were recruited: 7,000 primary-school teachers and 7,500 secondary-school teachers. The administration also approved/recruited thousands of other personnel across healthcare, education, security, traffic management and the civil services.

Teachers alone: 19,500 across the two terms.
And since 2019, Oyo workers have also received a 13th-month salary every year, alongside regular salary and pension payments.

So when we talk about what government does with public money, let's also talk about people who got jobs, schools that got teachers, workers who got paid and families whose livelihoods were affected. The receipts are there.
