Goldsmiths UOL Students in solidarity with UCU Staff Strike demanding NEGOTIATIONS from the warden Frances Corner.

Under 25s are particularly fucked from the corona crisis
-More likely to be in jobs affected or gone due to COVID
-More likely to have little/no savings and be renters
-Universal Credit for under 25s is only £342.72 a month
This govt needs to do more! Rent suspension now!
1. ALL ESSENTIAL WORKERS GIVEN FULL CONTRACTUAL STATUS AND RIGHTS AS EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPANY THEY WORK FOR
2. ALL ESSENTIAL WORKERS PAID DBL TIME DURING LOCKDOWN
3. ALL ESSENTIAL WORKERS GIVEN FREE TRAVEL
4. EMPLOYERS FINED FOR REQUESTING NON-ESSENTIAL WORKERS TO THEIR WORKPLACE
Goldsmiths @GoldsmithsUoL@FCorner is still pressuring cleaners into working on campus. The two-tier workforce continues under pandemic! They've contacted cleaners informing them they've been designated as "essential key workers". Cleaners have replied demanding to know:
Maybe it is our naive belief that Unis are meant to care about their students...
...but the way most universities have ignored the cries of students suffering mental health issues and ploughing on with Coursework and Assessments shows complete lack of care.
RT if you agree
Our colleague and comrade @MichaelRosenYes is not well. A stalwart at our teach outs and a giant figure in the movement, everyone here sends him much love, solidarity & strength x https://t.co/z3zKGPloea
UK must remain in full lockdown until June to avoid worst effects of #covid19UK, gov leading epidemiology adviser said.

After some back and forth emails with Royal College of Art management we have managed to get them to pay the LLW back dated and send all the outsourced cleaners home with full pay coz of the coronavirus crisis.
If you have not unionise your workplace yet, do it NOW!✊️
Cleaners at Goldsmiths sent the letter below to @FCorner, we await her reply. Cleaners feel left in the dark by @GoldsmithsUoL, they are unnecessarily working during the outbreak and have not been provided adequate info or equipment to do so.
Several universities starting to make clear they won't be charging rent for third term where they manage the accomm. Now needs every other uni to follow suit, and pressure to build on PBSA with noms agreements with unis. All the major accomm players should just do this anyway.
Students losing their jobs. Then losing their flats. Having to move in with parents. No study rooms. It is real. It is in my inbox. No moaning, just a polite request for an extension. It's only just begun. The New Materialism of the online University.

We've written to @GoldsmithsUoL + @FCorner urging them to prioritise the health of ALL staff, students, and public at Goldsmiths over the current ‘business as usual’ approach. We are especially concerned about our colleagues in cleaning, security and catering. Response to follow.
