new pinned tweet because I found myself a dork :3
Hi! I'm Alasdair. Start running
Few things about be:
- 21 (it's supposed to be fun)
- trains <3
- taken <33
- unhinged swiftie
- bri'ish 😔🇬🇧
- chaotic bi/pansexual🏳️🌈 (either label is fine)
- struggling engineering student
@northernassist Hi, I’ve got a friend who is trying to make it to Blackpool, and due to the disruption at Bolton has been sent via Blackburn on 2N98 from Manchester Victoria. They were hoping to connect onto 1B33 at Blackburn, however as 2N98 is running a few minutes late…
…they’re down to only having a 1 minute connection at Blackburn onto 1B33. Would it be possible to hold 1B33 at Blackburn so they can make their connection? It would be much appreciated, otherwise it’s another hour on top of the disruption they’ve already had today.
@john_auldtoon@Globalstats11 …attempts while they were part of the Northern Ireland Executive. It was only after the executive collapsed after the 2017 assembly election, and the subsequent failure to form an executive by the 2019 deadline, that the UK Parliament legalised same sex marriage there
@john_auldtoon@Globalstats11 If we’re being 100% accurate, it was first legalised in England and Wales on the 13th March 2014, while Scotland followed on the 16th December. Only reason the UK is listed as 2020 is because Northern Ireland didn’t legalise until then, as the DUP consistently vetoed all prior…
@MickMyers72@theiaincameron The zones are slightly different for motorways than for A/B roads. A/B roads use the single digit A roads as zone boundaries (e.g. A1, A2, A3 etc) while Motorways use the single digit motorways as their boundaries (e.g. M1, M2, M3). The M27 is mostly in motorway zone 2
just experiencing the heart-pounding anxiety of the ballot paper having the party i’m voting for next to the borderline n*zi party and me constantly checking a million times that I haven’t accidentally voted for brummie Hitler
@ClaretBlueTrain@SionJohn43185@Clinnick1@CrossCountryUK@AlstomUK@Modern_Railways Based on RailForums reporting (so take with a pinch of salt), of the 220s:
006, 008, and 016 are currently at Litchurch Lane being done (006 being closest to completion and 016 only just having gone in).
001, 021, 023, 025, 027, 028, 033 have all been done
No 221s done yet
@alexnw102@lfg_uk@EmilyCh38476529 Worth noting that the Bakerloo line fleet was supposed to be replaced by now - and the Central Line’s heavily refurbished - but both have been delayed by nearly a decade due to funding issues related to both COVID and the severing of UK government subsidy to TfL in 2015
@alexnw102@lfg_uk@EmilyCh38476529 Hardly average actually - this issue is almost exclusively seen on the Bakerloo and Central lines which both have chronic fleet shortages at the moment, which mean they have to put graffitied trains in service rather than cleaning them. Other lines don’t have this issue
@habidz@ReissOmari Boots moved to the other end of the departure boards a few months ago so the space was empty - definitely an improvement as the Greggs was teeny
i choose to believe the bin collector in person was a ttpd fan and vowed to get revenge on matty, chose not to empty his trash (since matty himself is trash) them called him a cunt at their first opportunity
respect 🫡
@rushman1uk@LNER There aren’t enough Azumas available to run the whole service, and so a few InterCity 225 sets were kept. They do plan on replacing them with new CAF build Class 897 “Serenza” trains, however they’re not expected to enter service until 2028
@RT190523@TfL@jimmynokes Guess it’s because there’s lower demand for overnight services via Bank, especially as a number of stations on it feature Night Tube from other lines, plus it increases how much training is required for Night Tube drivers to be trained to operate both branches
@ClanMcRaeMason@Itsdragonflies@futuredci@daiquiriheiress Perhaps that’s where we differ then. With anything, I have to consider the cost of doing something when decide whether or not it’s possible. That’s the reality of engineering in this day and age.
@ClanMcRaeMason@Itsdragonflies@futuredci@daiquiriheiress Yes, that is one thing that’s very true about engineering. Anything can be made to work - if you’re given a blank cheque to work with. Realistically, any scheme to build tunnels in ground like that in New Orleans is likely to cost many times more than the benefit they bring
