Well done to all Year 4 children this week on their efforts in the times tables checker. You were super speedy and impressed us all. Give yourselves a pat on your back and a well earned rest this weekend. Enjoy!
Year 4 have been building and drawing electrical circuits this week and investigating the effect of changing different components. Also, we have begun trying different sewing techniques in DT. They were much better than me who is still trying to master it. This sums my attempt.
Year 4 have had a great start to Summer 2. We are looking forward to reading more of the rather amusing Midsummer Night's Dream, learning about the English Civil War during the Stuart period and continuing are djembe drumming with Mark.
This week, Year 4 learnt about fables which included writing a recount about the Tortoise and the Hare. In Maths,we have finished off our unit of money. Next week, we will be looking at time with the children. Check out the Summer 1 homework grid to get an early start on this.
This week Year 4 have continued looking at money within Maths. We compared and rounded to the nearest 10p and Β£1. In English, we wrote an alternative ending to our SQUIRT novel Wolves. Also, we had the chance to create brochures about why you should visit Northern Ireland.
Today in Maths, we tried our hand cracking sudoku. I still haven't worked mine out yet. In our extended write, we wrote a character description about a number such as 7 as a sneaky robber always looking behind him. We finished off by creating our own board games. #NSPCCNUMBERDAY
A reminder that tomorrow is NSPCC number day so children can dress in a number themed costume. Be as creative as you want to. Keep your eyes peeled for some images of what we have done tomorrow.
Year 4 have had a smashing week! Ascott/Waddesdon were the first to try their hands at Djembe drumming. Osborne/Blenheim look forward to it next week. We will be learning about different drums and how we can vary the sound culminating in a grand performance on our last week.
Year 4 acted as they had never been away. Blenheim and Osborne had their first taste of swimming πββοΈπββοΈ We enjoyed learning about prepositions, decimals and in Geography Mr McMahon was beaming with joy as we are looking at all things Northern Ireland. #Irishparty#JustKeepSwimming
Ascott have been inspired to take part in what we in class have called the 'The Big Clean Up' were children have been lifting rubbish to help our environment. Together we're going to make a display to show our efforts and inspire others. Could you join us? #proud#smashingit
Children had a whale of a time crunching numbers today including creating pictograms. In English, we had to persuade someone to visit Aylesbury (I was simply sold by Nandos). For History we noted changes in our local area and even designed a time capsule in Art. #Census2021

World Book Day shenanigans! We enjoyed hot seating, role plays, guess the character, book factor and even created our own marvellous medicine for grandma. Some suggestions included spider eyes, lava and the world's hottest chillies. #dressup#WorldBookDay
We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. The day will include creating our own marvellous medicine, role plays and hot seating. If in school or at home, we would love children to dress up as a character from a book. Send your photos in through dojo. π
Tomorrow is another week, which means another new book in our #VirtualSchoolLibrary, in partnership with @Literacy_Trust π π€

I hope you all are having a storm of a half term. I have enjoyed eating my body weight full of pancakes. Can the Year 4 team ask that children read Chapter 1 of our new novel study Demon Dentist ready for Tuesday. Check out your class dojo page to access the powerpoint/pdf. Enjoy
A huge well done to everyone either at home or in school for your outstanding effort and attitude this term. All of us in Year 4 want to thank all of you and those that have supported you throughout. Stay safe, take care and have a ball next week! π
