God didn't make movies. God made humans. Made in his image, we too have a drive to create in our aspect. Movies have played out. The Young Creatives have moved on to making new humanoids like the Dog Paw Medicine guy. Why would you even want to make a movie when you could do this
Mainstream media in every industry is obsessed with the past. "Stuck culture", nostalgia, boomers refusing to let go, whatever you want to call it. See Top Gun, Rambo, etc for obvious examples
In the past younger creatives were given room to grow but that didn't happen, so they moved online. They still felt choked by toxic nostaliga, and that led to Analog Horror: an almost literal horror of the past consuming the future
Kane Parson's Backrooms movie is the crowning gem of this philosophy and will change nothing
Gwern talks about writing for LLMs, for our artificial posterity β but writing can convey things to our actual descendants too, and is the only way to preserve something of your values for the future after you.
One benefit of dedicating some portion of what you write online to be clear, unambiguous, and easy to read is that it will persist as you intended it after you die. Anything esoteric or hard to read will likely be misinterpreted or de facto forgotten.
@NoahTopper I like it because two ways to see it: one is doing just slightly less than more than enough will deeply harm you, the other is that doing 1% better everyday instead of 1% worse is the difference between meaningful success and failure. Kind of like a Rorschach test
@DenisQuaalude Oh if youβre not a bot then my apologies, your profile just had a bunch of qualities that made you think you were. You are followed by people that I follow also follow, so maybe my initial read was wrong.
One-arm pull up progress: full negative one-arm pull up! I can get to about 90 degrees from initiation but the top half is proving difficult. Started training lock-offs with bands and I think it helped.
@DenisQuaalude Oh, sorry. I knew you were a reply bot or something but didnβt realize that didnβt mean you couldnβt see the video. Iβm doing an *unassisted* one-arm lower in the video. Hope this helps?
