Happy to announce that Safehaven Marine have been awarded a contract with the Port of Sines, Portugal to supply a new Interceptor 48 pilot boat. We built our 7th pilot boat for the port of Sines back in 2009, and their new vessel will, some 12 years later be our 50th Pilot boat
Two more crew members have been rescued from livestock carrier which capsized during typhoon off Japan according to Coast Guard. Re3ports say there was concern about mechanical defects and operational issues in regard to the vessel. Japan Coast Guard photo of rescue.
Tomorrow is National Services Day. It's a day to reflect on the work that our emergency services do every day to keep us safe. Organisers have asked that people make some noise at 3pm as a way of saying thank you. We'll be making some noise of our own over Dublin city!
Congratulations to Commander Roberta O’Brien who has become the highest ranking female in the history of the #IrishNavy. Cdr O’Brien was amongst the 1st females to join the NS in 1995 & the 1st female ship’s Captain, assuming command of LÉ Aisling in 2008 #womeninleadership 🇮🇪
Watch the extraordinary story of paddleboarders Sara & Ellen & their rescuers Patrick and Morgan @RTELateLateShow tonight!
Thanks to Sara & Ellen’s families who ask that donations go to https://t.co/KxquGaWVX3
A donation will make a huge difference to those we rescue #LateLate
For most of this week media attention has focused on the failure of people in power to make the best decisions for the greater good. 👏 to @nevilleskibb and the @R117Waterford crew for their selfless & often unnoticed sacrifices. Thoughts also with the donor family #heroes
@TiernanGray Hi Tiernan, It must have been a harrowing experience for your father and the dive team to recover the pilot. I remember all the local boats rushing out to search with the lifeboat that day, for years after the boat owners said it was a horrible experience.
This Day 50 years ago over Wicklow Bay
In memory of the five people who died while filming scenes for the movie Zeppelin over Wicklow bay on this day in 1970.

So we successfully set a new powerboat world record for the over 50 ft class Cork-Fastnet-Cork at 2 hrs 36 minutes (subject to ratification by the UIM) averaging 44.6 kts with a maximum speed of 53 kts. Thunder Child II ran great throughout 👍
