Fantastic to see a flock of sheep now grazing our grassland/hay meadow at North Duffield's New Meadow site. From a fallow arable field in April to a sheep grazed meadow with wild bird mix (already supporting finches) by November. Brilliant result by the Friends of the #LDV.

A pleasant day @FlamboroughBird yesterday. A good selection of birds. Plenty of Yellow Browed Warblers, a Red Breasted Flycatcher, Great White Egret, a brief but obliging Hoopoe and a glimpse of a 'unstreaked Acro' that only gave itself up as a Marsh Warbler in photos.

Half my life spent patch working Wheldrake ings. As this white stork drifted over the refuge today before continuing South West it became my 200th bird for my patch.

A great day with the team surveying the meadow at Staveley nature reserve near Boroughbridge. Hard to imagine now that this was an arable field a decade ago! Great to see White-clawed Crayfish in the River Tutt on the northern boundary too, caught under license from NE.

A rewarding couple of hours looking around the busy road and rail banks on the outskirts of York. Good numbers of orchids with plenty of Bee Orchids amongst them and this little gem of a butterfly (Small Blue) surviving from a small colony found last year by ‘Mike the Bike’.
