@MidMRailFreight@railnigel There was clearly no incentive to quickly replace the 455s in the SWR management contract. Once SWR came under public control, things moved much more quickly
@gceccles@swtrains_watch@SW_Help@Heidi_Labour My perception is that it takes far longer these days to recover from disruption on the SWR network. I suspect that the demise of the WICC is a major factor in this.
So The Ashes are over......
The onfield stuff has been discussed a lot, but IMO England also failed off the field.
Let's look at a few examples......
We all know about the perceived lack of preparation with meet ups and "training camps" being held instead of games...

I really loved the man. He was really crucial to the beginning of our career. I send all my love and condolences to his family. He was a really sweet gentle soul. Rest in Peace Shel Talmy
What a legacy producer Shel Talmy has left us.
A whole raft of classics from the likes of The Who, The Kinks, The Creation, Manfred Mann, The Easybeats, the early Bowie among many other artists that he worked with across other genres of music.
Thanks for the magic Shel…RIP
@thomasforth@ChrisGiles_ Maybe I need to fire up a spreadsheet to prove it, but I‘m pretty certain that the vast majority of the population in SE England lives in conurbations and larger settlements rather than the rural areas.
A few minutes ago, Unit 4 turbo-generator at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station desynced from the GB grid system, marking the END of electricity generation from COAL after 142 years 🇬🇧🙏🏻 @RobBurnett92 and I present a 🪡🧵on the evolution of coal fired power from 1882 to today 1/n
@mk2james@swtrains_watch@LouHaigh Contingency plans to keep a reasonable service running on parts of the route still open would be a good starting point.
@mk2james@swtrains_watch@LouHaigh Having commuted on the SWML for nearly 30 years pre Covid, I can assure you when it goes wrong it takes a lot longer to recover. Significant cancellations six hours after the line reopened isn‘t good.
Streetcar photography is about more than pictures of trolleys. It's a great way to see different parts of the city. Here is a short thread of a recent trip to Philadelphia, as explored through its extensive and varied trolley system. 1/17
@SW_Help Could you please politely remind your staff that trying to fix an aircon issue in part of a train doesn’t justify delaying the service by 20 mins so people miss important connections.
@SW_Help Thanks. 11:20 Weymouth to Waterloo which sat at Brockenhurst for over 20 mins. Onward connection for me at Southampton missed. I’ll now be an hour late to my destination.
@RantyHighwayman A question for National Highways. On the A31 between Ringwood and the M27, which is similar in design, there’s only one at grade right turn remaining now. All other at grade junctions are left in / left out and for a few, you have to travel a long way to U turn.
