....the saddest of goodbyes to George...a great broadcaster, kind colleague, thoughtful journalist and a wonderful person with such a warm smile and lovely laugh...he inspired so many...and fought until the very end... #GeorgeAlagiah
The PM really does need to understand that he is now further damaging U.K. science by not immediately rejoining Horizon, presumably to placate some know-nothing fringe bloviators who know nothing about science, its value or how it’s conducted. As Lord Rees says below, it is baffling. Get on with it.
My entrepreneurial timeline:
1 year: Clueless, crying a lot
3 years: Still worse off than in my last job
5 years: Finally getting some wins
10 years: Why doesn't everyone do this?
Many crack it faster than me, but you've still just got to start and push through
"The most important trick to be happy is to realize that happiness is a choice that you make and a skill set that you develop. You choose to be happy, and then you work at it. It's just like building muscles."

How to spot high agency people:
1. Weird teenage hobbies - Teenage years are the hardest time to go against social pressures. If they can go against the crowd as a teenager, they can go against the crowd as an adult.
2. Golden question - If you're in a 3rd world prison cell and had to call someone to get you out, who would you call? That's the highest agency person you know.
3. You can never guess their opinions - The boxer that writes poetry. The advertiser obsessed with the history of war. The beauty queen who reads Nietzsche. If their beliefs don't line up with their stereotypes, they've exercised agency.
4. Immigrant mentality - If they've moved from their hometown, that's a good sign. If they've moved from their home country, that's an even greater sign.
It takes agency to spot you're in the wrong place, resourcefulness to operationalise a move and a growth mindset to start from zero in a new location.
5. They send you niche content - Low agency people look at the social engagement of content before deeming its quality. High agency people just look at the content. They spot upcoming creators very early.
6. Mean to your face but nice behind your back - The social incentives are to be nice to people's faces and gossip behind their backs. To do the opposite requires agency because they're swimming against the social tide.
Is this what it’s come to @Tripadvisor?
What a dangerous precedent you’re setting for small hospitality businesses - an absolute hissy fit ‘review’ because she couldn’t book a table at our fully booked restaurant and this is deemed a valid ‘experience’ by yourselves?
It has been two weeks since our friend and colleague, Evan Gershkovich, was wrongfully detained by Russia for simply doing his job. We stand with Evan and his family in demanding his immediate release. #IStandWithEvan
