On April 25, 1976, during a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, two protestors ran onto the field and tried burning an American flag.
Cubs center fielder Rick Monday quickly ran over and grabbed the flag to save it before the protestors could light it on fire. His quick action was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
When asked later about the incident, Monday said: "If you're going to burn the flag, don't do it around me. I've been to too many veterans' hospitals and seen too many broken bodies of guys who tried to protect it."

@benshapiro Attacks are coming thick and fast, primarily from the left, which is no surprise, however I should be clear that the right will probably be a little unhappy too.
My goal is to maximize area under the curve of total human happiness, which means the ~80% of people in the middle.
