During my meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom, @DavidLammy, we discussed Russia’s daily missile strikes on our energy infrastructure and ways to strengthen protection against them. We are grateful for the UK’s decision to provide an energy support package for Ukraine right now, when it is most needed.
We also addressed the situation in diplomacy and sanctions policy against Russia. I briefed the Secretary in detail on the battlefield situation and on Russian losses. We are also seeing Russia actively recruiting foreign nationals, including from Global South countries, into its criminal war. Greater coordination among partners is needed to prevent such cases.
I thank the United Kingdom, its Government, and its people for all the assistance to our country.
The government has ended the funding pause on @UNRWA - effective immediately.
This begins with £21m to support the humanitarian response in Gaza, provide essential services for refugees across the region, and alleviate the suffering of civilians.

If I hadn’t become a chorister at the King’s School in Peterborough I would never have become a politician. It taught me that politics must be about searching for the common ground.

🚨it’s been an honour to serve as Keir Starmer’s acting Head of Domestic Policy over recent months.

to return to team @DavidLammy tomorrow to help develop Labour’s internationalist, progressive and values-led foreign policy.

The policing of the vigil for Sarah Everard last night was unacceptable.
This is no time for the government to impose disproportionate controls on the right to protest.
Labour will vote against @pritipatel’s Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill on this basis.
