The first episode of GDScript to C++ is out! Here, we see how C++'s class declarations, basic inheritance, and member access compare to GDScript.

@SahazelXI@PirateSoftware That's a bad assumption to make. In my case, since I know EGS offers devs a higher percentage of sales, I prioritize purchasing games there over Steam for that reason alone.
Holiday Kit has been released! ✨100 models, all optimized and ready to be used in games. The package is completely free - no ads, no registration, no tracking!

I've tried ~12 games during Steam Next Fest. @starvaders_game was easily the one I've enjoyed the most. Diverse enemies & deck styles, high polish, lots of potential. The VERY difficult challenge mode took me a lotta tries, but this deck of "moving bombs" sealed the deal for me.
This new Twitter ToS update is concerning to me.
They've added lines allowing content posted to be used in AI training models specifically calling out allowed use in generative AI. The image on the left is the previous ToS from October 9th. The image on the right is the new ToS from October 16th.
This platforms best use continues to be for shitposting.
@bitbrain@AustinJurgle Yeah. Sometimes I like to just pose questions at folks like this though on the off chance that it causes some introspection and makes them rethink their actions. Maybe .001% chance of making a difference, but if it makes them think twice next time, it's worth it.
@bitbrain I USED to take 30m showers. Spent my time thinking about tons of things as I relaxed in the hot water: programming/design/storytelling/music/relationships/todo lists/life goals/how to reduce|overcome stresses, etc. No topic too off. Then, I met my wife, was scolded. Now 10m. Lol.
Another decent example I've seen: a father who uses AI art to create ad-hoc visuals for his kids' custom bedtime stories.
The art spices up the stories. Not meant to be good. Just free inspiration for kids' imaginations. Actual authored/illustrated books are important too though
Excellent critique of creators attempting to use AI art directly. It's simply inferior.
They've maybe 1 good use case (ignoring dubious legality): discussion springboard w/ real artist. Contract an artist. Need img refs of goal. Can't find. Make with AI. Point out likes/dislikes
This is these guys in a nutshell. It's a shot-for-shot remake of the original trailer... except it's not even a good copy. It's not just that there is not a single original idea in there, they aren't even aware that they have taken out all the substance. (A li'l thread.)
@bitbrain Man, haven't played MTG since high school. Good times.
I'll always remember playing Phantom Dust: an Xbox exclusive 3rd-person action-deckbuilder that mirrored lots of MTG concepts almost 1-to-1. It was definitely rough around the edges, but sadly there aren't more like it.
@SteinMakesGames@bitbrain It facilitates ad-hoc investigations of would-be game state in the midst of debugging and can greatly speed iteration time for quickly solving problems. Common feature in many debugging GUI tools (Visual Studio, JetBrains, etc.).
@SteinMakesGames@bitbrain At a breakpoint, the debugger only shows the state of local scope variables and the scene tree. If you wanted to evaluate an arbitrary expression, you would have to make a new variable, restart, & hit the BP again. Now, you just put it in this tab and it instantly evaluates.

@FreyaHolmer People vastly underestimate what it takes to maintain an engine the size of Godot.
There will be an interesting surprise for them: the realisation that the Godot team actually does a decent job at maintaining a general-purpose game engine.
@binary_eyes As far as I understand it, even if someone is blocked on GitHub, it merely prevents them from interacting with the social features. A blocked user can still freely download and use the software, so I don't think it's possible for Godot to "block you from source."
@AlexMalfr@progy23@godotengine Are merch links like this included anywhere on the official Godot website? If not, you may want to consider adding an area for that.
This exactly. If Nintendo wins *for this reason* (not sure if there's more to it), then it would set a terrible precedent for ALL game design moving forward.
@PirateSoftware So... Nintendo has been using a mechanic for over 20 years, but just now decided to patent it?
That.... Should just not be a thing.
Imagine all other possible mechanics, like Dark Souls bonfire's suddenly being patented after all this time.
Doesn't make sense.
