@notwaving@Steph_BBandT@carbuff1975 Ironically motability is the single largest car buyer in the UK supply and demand means without motab prices of new and used cars would sky rocket
@Steph_BBandT@carbuff1975 Seconded our lease is coming upto renewal (i drive my partners car as she medically can't drive) and because of where we live the new milage restrictions are a problem, but we'd quite happily keep ours alas not an option!
@cyrankam @CommanderMLA Just came across this so did some research, GPS as a system yes as the ISS itself uses GPS, but limitations on consumer recievers in phones means its not available in orbit. So not on there phones no.
@rauli_x@StevenZRProject@London_W4@Neil184340@Tiggermcboyce Tried she physically can't get out of estate/hatchback/saloon cars, and again regardless of the cost of the lease 1 it's a lease car goes back after 3 years, 2 it doesn't cost the tax payer any more then it would without the scheme the difference is my partner can work, pay tax
@BruhahaEtc@London_W4@MotabilityOps Oh and on an slightly unrelated point PIP isn't only about money it's the only way to prove disability, without it my Mrs would have no blue badge no disability support, no access accommodations at public places PIP is the proof for all of it.
@bigbeard666@London_W4@MotabilityOps I don't disagree my point is with motability or not the cost would be the same, and if motability can design a business plan that allows for nicer cars why shouldn't they be available at 0 cost to the taxpayer it's us the claimant that picks up the extra cost.
@BruhahaEtc@London_W4@MotabilityOps We will pay a proportion of the value over the 3yr lease then hand it back and motability will resell it, this resale and the discounts given to motability by manufacturers off set the value of the vehicle. So I'm conclusion we couldn't afford our car on the private market.
@BruhahaEtc@London_W4@MotabilityOps And for second the PIP pays for the car and other essentials that my other half needs in order to go to work and earn money and pay tax, finally thanks to bulk buying and it being a lease not buying it is cheaper for motability and is then buying the car outright.
@BruhahaEtc@London_W4@MotabilityOps Because for one we don't we save for our cars for most of the lease of the previous car and in our case we go for the most cost effective model to suite our needs (so for us an SUV high enough for my Mrs to get into and a boot big enough to fit her chair.
@BlueSky14298@London_W4 If the disabled person wants the nicer car they have to pay up to 8K in advance payment of they want a basic car it's 0, plus motability is owned by a group of banks not the government
@BlueSky14298@London_W4 It doesn't cost the taxpayers anymore if disabled people have a low end or high end car as motability can own take pip money that would otherwise be in the disabled persons bank, the difference is how much the disabled person or there family can afford to pay in a deposit.
@StevenZRProject@London_W4@Neil184340@Tiggermcboyce We need an SUV as it has to be tall enough for my partner to get in and out of and have a boot big enough for her chair so we pay about £3K in advance payment, we start saving halfway through the previous lease and hope we have enough, because not having a car isn't an option.
