Blessed Karl of Austria exemplified the qualities and essence of our Lord’s teaching, as did all of the Church’s saints who were endowed with royal dignity. At home, he established a Ministry of Social Welfare, the first of its kind in the world. He commuted death sentences, organized soup kitchens, used the horses and wagons of the palace to deliver coal to the Viennese, fought against usury and corruption, and gave away most of his private wealth by distributing alms beyond his means. He went among his people, suffered with them, and comforted them with his presence and words.
Blessed Karl of Austria, pray for us.
Father Murr suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago and has been operated on since and is now safely home. However, he is a bit weaker than usual due to his recovery. Please pray for him, and I’ll be posting a nine day novena leading up to his 75th birthday on the 15th soon.
After seeing this post, I contacted Fr. Murr directly to ask if he is alright and he, in turn, asked me to clarify a couple of things:
• He did indeed have a heart attack, but it was back in June. He was hospitalized at that time in Seville.
• He said, “At 75, I am experiencing a slow recovery. I hope to be fine and thank everyone for the prayers, but the ‘crisis’ was 7 weeks ago, not yesterday. I am just slow to heal and am not ‘bouncing back’ as I hoped to.”
Please continue to pray for a smooth and speedy recovery.
