What You Need to Know

• Fake Extension Name: CrewAI Assistant
• Fraudulent Publisher: CrewAI Assistant
• Malicious Behavior: Downloads an unwanted & malicious executable

If you have installed this extension, we strongly recommend removing it immediately and checking your system for any unauthorized actions / modifications.

How to Stay Safe
Uninstall the malicious extension from VS Code (Extensions Panel → Search → Click "Uninstall").
Check for suspicious activity on your host such as:
Unfamiliar Programs or Processes: Applications running that you did not install.
Unusual Network Traffic: Unexpected internet activity, even when no programs are in use.
Unauthorized User Accounts or Privilege Escalations: New users appearing without approval.
Altered Security Settings: Firewall or antivirus software being disabled without your knowledge.
Unexplained Data Transfers: Files being moved, modified, or deleted unexpectedly.
Run a security scan using your preferred antivirus or endpoint protection tool.

What We’re Doing About It
- Reported this extension to Microsoft for immediate removal.
- Contacted security teams to investigate further.
- Implementing further security control to detect and respond to this sort of activity
