Excellent thread which I would implore anyone interested in physical activity and exercise behaviour to read. @Ekkekakis, your work has been influential in the delivery of our sport & exercise science programme.
With @ZackZenko and @gkavetsos some years ago, we outlined a path forward for the promotion of physical activity, following the lessons we have learned from the late, great Daniel Kahneman. Thanks for an incredible legacy, Danny!
'Could the stress of having to sort out the Prince Harry situation over the last two years have contributed to his illness?'
Mike Parry asks whether Prince Harry and Meghan have had a role to play in King Charles' illness in terms of causing stress.
I agree that we should recommend lifestyle changes, particularly physical exercise, as an adjunct to psychotherapy and/or medication. However, is simply ‘prescribing’ exercise enough? For many, engaging in exercise is considerably harder than taking a pill.
Today i was attending patients at Psychiatry OPD of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. I did not prescribe any medications rather physical exercise and psychotherapy, as the symptoms of depression were mild.
Let's use medications while required only.
