Thinking about the cost of training and to serving AI models: in some sense, the frontier labs investors and the US govt (by bailing them out) are subsidising our usage of them on the premise that this is somewhat a "winner(s)-takes-all" market that would create a sort of duopoly.
But this seems completely unreasonable right now with the open-source models catching up quickly at a fraction of the training and (usually) inference costs. This looks more like a commodity market situation. Anyway, I'm somewhat thankful to be subsidised right now by the narrative that "we must win".
On the other hand, this might be the trade for all the data.

Discordo e acho uma visão bem pessimista do todo.

Tecnologicamente falando existem ganhos de escala, ganhos em runtime, ganhos em orquestração, e provavelmente outros que eu não consigo imaginar agora.
Sem levar em consideração que uma inovação em arquitetura pode tornar inferência ordens de magnitude mais eficiente.

Geopoliticamente e economicamente falando o USA e seus principais agentes econômicos PRECISAM fazer os frontier labs serem os vencedores dessa "corrida". Se precisar, e deve, o USA vai fazer resgate financeiro pra essas empresas usando o pretexto de que o povo Americano precisa participar desses negócios.

Se eu fosse apostar, eu diria que "nothing stops this train".

Technically we are not in an AI age, but in a Deep Learning age. Deep Learning is deep faking AI, (mostly) by imitating the patterns of human thought. That does not mean that Deep Learning is limited, but it is wasteful to dig through mountains of our output to find intelligence
