I initiated a large wire transfer for the Roadster on Friday night. Went through all the photo verification processes. Over the weekend it continued to say pending... no big deal, as expected.
Then today, it simply vanished. No error, no notification, no reason. Just vanished.
I gave the AI agent (the only way to interact with support) the transaction ID that I screen shotted, and it said it couldn't help me... but gave me a phone number to talk to a person.
I called the phone number, but it's just the voice version of the AI chat agent. Completely unwilling to let me talk to a person.
Apparently $45,000 transactions aren't large enough to warrant a human.
8 hours later, support emails me.
They treat me like a fool. Suggest that I missed a notification, go on to describe how to find the bell icon in the X app so I can look for notifications.

I triple check for any X money notifications, I see them for everything but the wire transfer.

It is ~gone gone~.

I'm all for AI, but when it comes to big money I'm not going ever fully commit to an institution that doesn't allow human help when the machines can't do it.

Ultimately I need this transfer to go through so I've sent it again, putting $90,000 at risk.

My 24 hour thoughts on the iPhone 18 Pro Max:

- Variable aperture is cool, but most people will not notice it unless in dark situations
- Battery life is insanely good, best day-one battery life on any iPhone I’ve used
- Phone gets warm, but not super hot
- A20 Pro chip is ridiculously powerful
- Anything involving Apple Intelligence happens much faster (like the AI photo editing features)
- For some reason iOS 27 feels significantly smoother on the 18 Pro Max compared to the 17 Pro Max - faster animations, fewer dropped frames
- Don’t notice the smaller Dynamic Island at all
- Weight increase is noticeable, but not problematic
- Back glass texture feels different to 17 Pro, in a good way
- Pro controls in the native camera all are super convenient
- All 17 Pro/Max cases fit on the 18 Pro/Max

Not once in the post-WWII era, outside of 2022 when the American consumer was swimming in a $2 trillion pool of fiscal stimulus checks, has the Fed managed to avert a recession when they tightened policy into an energy price shock. The 2s/10s curve is only 30 basis points away from inverting. Keep an eye on it. Nobody, including the Warsh-led Fed, believes a recession is even a remote possibility. A big surprise is coming their way. As we saw with the Internet boom in the early 2000s, AI is not bigger than the business cycle.
