I will never understand this. You win an Oscar at the Academy Awards and call on people not to stay silent and not to be complicit. But at the same time, you can’t clearly say what war you’re talking about, who the aggressor is, or which country is "being bombed and attacked by drones falling from the sky". Hypocrisy — something Ukrainians simply cannot tolerate.

CONTEXT:
On Sun, Mar 15, the Academy awarded the Oscar for Best Documentary to "Nobody Against Putin", directed by David Borenstein, Pavel Talankin, Helle Faber, and Alžběta Karaskova. The film tells the story of a Russian teacher who secretly documented how his small-town school was turned into a war recruitment center during the invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the film "2000 Meters to Andriivka" by Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov — about the real fighting and sacrifice of Ukrainians trying to liberate their country from the Russian invasion — was not nominated this year, although it did make the shortlist.

@coco_chatel Agree 100%. It also bothered me that Pavel Talankin just said “stop all these wars” instead of “Putin and Russia must be stopped, arm Ukraine now”. Same thing when Javier Bardem said “No to War and Free Palestine”. That erases the murderous Iranian regime and Russia.
