Valtor knows he could sleep, but he feels he doesn't deserve that. He'll recover the long way. It won't matter, anyway. The witches have their magic back. They don't need him anymore.
Valtor just lies there, disappointed in himself for not being able to change the eseence. The witches will be stuck here, and he's now partially at fault for that. They'll die on this planet. They'll never see the rest of the universe again.
Valtor continues trying for about an hour, sensing that he's only losing energy. He refuses to give up. He'll collapse before he fails. He keeps going, and that's exactly what happens. He uses almost all his energy trying to remove the interplanetary transporting block.
This takes an even larger amount of concentration and a lot of energy. After about twenty minutes, Valtor can tell he's removed the transporting block on the planet. If he can remove the one for interplanetary transporting as well, they'll be able to escape the planet.
Valtor will have to change the essence, then. If Domino could figure out how to create it, he can figure out how to undo it. He has the power to, at least. So, he begins trying to change the essence.
That's not enough. Valtor can sense that what's blocking transporting is separate from the part that was blocking magic. Removing that won't be as easy as separating it from the essence. It's combined with the essence itself.
After a few minutes, Valtor can sense more clearly what in the planetary essence is blocking the witches' magic. He begins trying to remove that part like he would if he were taking the eseence. It takes a lot of concentration, but eventually he's able to do it.
Valtor enters the cave, sensing only the essence inside, and approaches it. It looks like any other planetary essence. He can't sense what makes it different from the other prison planets' essences. He puts his hands near it, closes his eyes, and focuses only on the essence.
It's a four-hour journey to the essence room. Valtor makes it there, watching the sun hit its high point and then slowly become lower as the day goes on. This essence is in a cave, too. It also has a large entrance. He wonders if that's why he could sense it so easily.
Valtor leaves for the essence room, telling the witches that he'll be gone for the rest of the day. They should drink and eat when they need to again and go to sleep when it's night. They'll see him again the next morning.
The witches become excited at the possibility of having their magic back. Valtor knows it will change the dynamics of the group, but it's worth it. If nothing else, it would be nice if he could transport to the places where food exists.
The witches are surprised at how confident Valtor is that he'll succeed. That doesn't even seem possible to them. They spent so much time fighting fairies. Domino overpowered all of them easily to imprison them. Is he really powerful enough to change the nature of it?
The witch leader convinces Valtor to sit, at least. Once all the witches are done eating, she stands up with him and tells them he has something to say. He addresses all of them and says that he's going to get their magic back.
Like with the water, the healthy witches distribute the food to the sick ones first. Then, they eat. The leader offers some to Valtor, but he refuses since he doesn't have to eat. He says that once they're done, he'd like to make an announcement.
The witch leader wakes up first and notices Valtor leaning against a wall, the bag of food next to him. She yells for everyone to wake up. They finally have food.
If the witches had their magic, it would be a lot easier to survive. It would alleviate some of the fear they're experiencing. Valtor can sense where the planetary essence is. If he can destroy planets, he should also be able to change them.
