TAX AUDIT DEADLINE EXTENSION — NOT JUST A PROFESSIONAL DEMAND, BUT A SOCIAL CAUSE

The demand to extend the Tax Audit due date to 31st October permanently is not merely about giving Chartered Accountants more time.

It is about creating a realistic compliance framework that protects the quality of audits, the well-being of professionals and the larger public interest.

THE PROFESSIONAL CAUSE:
A Tax Audit is not a mechanical exercise of filling forms.

It involves examination of books and records, verification of documents, reconciliations, analysis of tax provisions, identification of discrepancies, preparation of reports and professional review before the report is finally signed.

Trying to complete this entire process within an extremely compressed period can create unnecessary pressure and increase the risk of inadvertent errors, incomplete verification and compromised professional review.
