12 years of travelling. Delayed baggage twice.
The first time was with a low-cost airline. They gave me $200 to buy essentials, delivered my bag to my hotel and treated me incredibly well.
This time I chose @qatarairways because I thought they were a serious airline and I travel with ~$2,500 of scuba gear
I flew Cairo → Doha → Bali. My bag had my dive gear + my bf’s and my clothes/toiletries
1AM: bag missing. Baggage Services said it was misplaced and would arrive the next night. Filled a report
No clothes. No toothbrush. No toiletries. No pyjamas. No dive gear. No one at airport took responsibility about that.
I had to cancel my dive in the morning and we bought only the basics: 2 tshirts + shorts (one each), underwear, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, ibuprofen (yes, perfect time for my period) and a hair comb.
10PM: we contacted baggage services, no response, still no bag, no pyjamas
00:32: finally, a call: “We’re bringing your luggage.”~26 hours later, it arrived… with a broken wheel and cracked shell.
I had to buy a new suitcase
Total documented expenses + suitcase damage: €386.
Qatar’s response? $100.
And the email offering this “settlement” cannot be replied to. So how am I supposed to dispute it? Submit another 100 forms with the same receipts?
Honestly, this isn’t the level of service I provide to my SaaS clients, let alone what I expect from a premium airline.
I chose @qatarairways@qrsupport because I expected better. Prove me right.
I’m a woman but this 💯 % applies to me too! The only caveat is that I immigrated at 18 and kept moving every 9 years 😭 and the 3 friends i made at 15 didn’t come with me 😔
@dvasishtha I hear the forward deployed PM and all I can think about is that no one has ever heard about/bothered to look into Business systems analyst role!
You will never be able to convince me that going to an office, by 9am (or you’re late), to sit at a shared desk, looking out a window at another builder right next to you, is something I will ever want to do.
I woke up this morning, made fresh coffee in my Chemex, worked for three hours, now I’m taking a 30 minute break.
This is the break.
This is Takayama, Japan.
A place where wooden merchant houses still line streets shaped by centuries of trade and tradition.
It makes you slow down without trying.
Or just don’t have kids if this is your lifestyle! The world is already full of unhappy kids and their grown up versions and it won’t become a nicer place with more unhappy humans 😏
