In the 23rd @BetaCodex_INTL research paper (published yesterday), I invite you to take a closer look at the 1950s and 1960s, when W. Edwards Deming taught the Japanese about production & management for quality: https://t.co/Dj3WTykupn
People who talk of leaders
are obsessed with authoritarian thinking.
They cannot get rid of
paternalistic (“power-over”) patterns of imagining the world.
They have nothing constructive
to contribute to organizations or societies.
A new BetaCodex Network research paper is here: "Deming in Japan, 1950-1965"

Practical theory makes people think.
Great cases only make people nod (at best).
Which is why "safaris" to the Silicon Valley or other "inspiring" places are dysfunctional.
Sorry.
Don’t aim at being a generalist - aim at being a multi-specialist! Robust, high-performing teams are made up of multi-specialists, or “individuals with several, or many masteries” who can effortlessly slip into several different roles.
“Generalist” – that sounds like “scallywag”.
Self-organization and self-management: They are NOT the same! Which is why we at Red42 focus on supporting consistent self-organization in companies. And not that other thing. Check out our website at https://t.co/MJsyznrwNu

The ideology of management and the dominance of managers are alien to the ideas of democracy and democratic society; they are anti-democratic by definition. Thomas Diefenbach
To sum up, the ideology of management, the dominance of managers and the managerial organisation are anti-democratic, exploitative, inhumane, unjust and class-centered. If people were free, they would not choose this type of organisation. Thomas Diefenbach
Culture cannot be broken.
Culture cannot be wrong.
Culture does not pose a problem.
Culture does not stand in the way.
Culture does not force anybody.
Culture is not powerful.
Stop believing in "culture gurus" like Ed Schein.
It's the system, stupid!
