I'd like to just be whelmed for once. None of this over / under tosh. Just whelmed, thank you very much.

Pay off my order tonight was missing. I ordered in app and collected, but didn't realise until I got home. The ai customer service app isn't working

[Sam Dickinson @SamDickinson]

Thanks @TUIUK for causing my Mum additional stress & grief when trying to cancel her booking due to my dad’s passing. I understand the policy says XYZ about time frames but my Dad didn’t choose to pass away and you’re quite happy to pocket almost 5k. Absolutely disgraceful.

Now THAT is an icon.

In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy.

She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid.

The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%.

She handed out the checks herself.

In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college.

When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months.

You've probably heard that part.

Here's the part you haven't:

The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top.

Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave.

She built her county an entire hospital.

She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it.

In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees.

Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal.

In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release.

And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it.

She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway.

She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did.

Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸

@TheTweetOfGod You're not wrong

[Tim Walker @ThatTimWalker]

Very cool, entertaining and with high production values: if I were @Nigel_Farage, I’d consider dipping into that £5 million to try to get out a video that can compare to it.

I watched Keir Starmer in the H of C address the Mothers forced to give up their babies. I could see the genuine empathy & honesty in his statement & it reminded me, yet again, that we are losing the most decent of men as our Prime Minister.

[Paul Vick @PaulVick138203]

Do you want Sir Keir Starmer to stay Prime Minister?🤔

@DeborahMeaden Agreed. This is a travesty and will pave the way for a reform government. The absolute monstrosity that GB politics has become is terrifying. Instability and backstabbing. We are a joke.

[Deborah Meaden 🇺🇦 @DeborahMeaden]

He isn’t … there are plenty of vested interests who want us to believe he is…

[🕷 🇺🇦 #Rejoin 🇪🇺 @wrencakes]

@Keir_Starmer this is a travesty. I'm so disappointed at the stupidity of the party. You did a solid job as PM. Not without mistakes, but in the circumstances you took office, with 14 years of damage to repair, you achieved so much. Sadly, this paves the way for a reform govmt.

[Selina Bastable @BastableSelina]

If Andy Burnham had the integrity and principles worthy of being PM he would insist on a leadership contest. He would tell supporters to stop bullying Sir Keir Starmer and announce his intention to stand. To fail to do so smacks of cowardice. For me he has failed the first test.

All this in two years. @Keir_Starmer.

Feel free to share.
