Researching: AI, tech comm, and the production of place. ✨ Published in: @strongtowns @PsychToday. Fmr: Human Data @xAI; Digital Inclusion Fellow @googlefiber
7 years ago, I wrote a @StrongTowns piece about pedestrians and cyclists climbing over stalled freight trains to reach our commuter rail station. Today, thanks to a TIGER grant and lots of community collaboration, a bike/ped bridge was opened. ❤️ 🚊 🚲
@STORUP1 Can I ask what sort of things you say in response? I’m making a local newsletter too and wonder how to reply in a way that is meaningful and personal.
@SenJohnCurtis Thanks for hosting this-I'll be there to hear your update! Hope you’ll chat with us about the chance to turn the soon-to-be-surplus J. Will Robinson Federal bldg into a STEAM children’s museum. A perfect fit for Provo’s families & startup culture. Could be a real win for Utah.
I’m researching writing studies/communication and AI, but it takes a lot of extra-disciplinary research to understand. Ultimately I ended up getting a job with an AI company for half a year just so I could gain enough of a background to have confidence in my ideas. https://t.co/Q2QXwfD83l

@buildingslc McWhinney was the firm selected by Provo to redevelop their big city center block downtown. They kept extending the timeline and then the deal fell apart. And now the market has changed. Huge bummer for us.
Headed to #4C24 and looking forward to sharing my Speculative Design AI prototype, created to help people imagine alternative futures for their cities.
An interesting example of the ways language and symbols can impact the way people think about infrastructure. The original sign was meant to alert drivers that a road is shard space, but it was interpreted as a warning asking cyclists to stick to the gutter.
End of an era - the new edition of MUTCD no longer has "share the road." Too many people misunderstood it as telling bikes to squeeze off into the gutter so drivers could pass without changing lanes.
The replacement is a mouthful, but much clearer legally.
I take care of a little neighborhood exchange box called The Poetry Post. Every now and then there’s something particularly delightful inside. A while back a young film maker asked to shoot a short about the box - take a look! https://t.co/ntQEqrS9h6
