sweet (and a little dumb) Cheesecake Factory is still learning that not all cats will love him instantly like Stanley...... unfortunately he has sustained life threatening injuries to his nose (his words). I performed CPR, I think he will survive this, but only time will tell
the funniest part of replacing receptionists with AI will be realizing nobody actually documented half the things jessica the front desk person just magically handled every day.
I just think it would be better for everyone if the people who make adhesive for maxi pads and the people who make adhesive for bookstore price stickers switched jobs
"my feelings are hurt and i need time to process them so i can better communicate with you" is a perfectly valid response & i wish we used it more in moments of conflict
People think chronic illness is isolating because you can’t always go out.
It’s not that.
It’s isolating because you stop explaining.
For example, my family wants to take me out somewhere today, and I want to go.
But before I even leave, I’m already planning everything.
Packing a bag with my meds.
Electrolytes.
Extra water.
Salty snacks.
Thinking about how long I can last.
Where I can sit.
What happens if I crash.
It’s a whole operation just to show up.
And after a while, you stop trying to explain all of that to people who will never have to think that way.
So you simplify it.
You say “I’m fine.”
And eventually, you just carry it quietly.
That’s when it really sets in.
Not when you’re alone…
but when you’re surrounded by people,
and still doing all of it by yourself.
I miss the version of my life where I could just… go.
I know I’m not the only one.
We are now forced to close intake and not help anymore cats until we find homes for the adoptable cats in our care. We literally have no more space and I'm having to say no to cats who will die without us.
all these kittens are still here.
Please share.

No matter how bad your own life gets please don’t be the person who cannot hold space for other people’s joy. Fight that thing. It’s how you’ll stay human.
Ngl, adult friendships require grace. People are very busy. People are healing. People are growing. People are taking time for self care just like you. Less communication isn’t less love. Check in not out.
