@Notwholesomerbx @AarikaSamone @AndrewYang Oddly yes. Yang believes not being able to pay your bills decreases your functional IQ by 12 points. https://t.co/ayU53P9eLM
@caro@ajs The LAX Automated People Mover starting in 2023 will connect you to public transit and rent-a-car, so in the future, it'll only take 1.5 hrs to get to DTLA by light rail.
@Bryan_275@AndrewYang So while Obama should not have run up the deficit that much, it's still responsible to run a deficit to boost the economy in a Great Recession, but not at the end of a 10-year economic expansion and top it off with a trade war.
@Bryan_275@AndrewYang That's true. The deficit is both a spending & revenue problem, so you have to tackle both. National debt is not as important a number as debt-to-GDP ratio because it reflects an ability to pay that debt. As long as the economy keeps growing, the debt and interest is manageable.
@Bryan_275@AndrewYang You can call it welfare. It's better than welfare b/c the govt can't tell you what to do with it & you won't lose it if you happen to earn more. Red state Alaska also has oil-funded UBI $2K/yr, so a family of 4 gets $8K. It's so popular they're willing to raise taxes to save it.
@saintshithead@rohitkuloth@AndrewYang That's true. We should keep fighting for a $15 min wage so people who work 40 hours a wk have a living wage. FD makes it so everyone, including those not paid by the hour, at least survives: parents, caretakers, students, volunteers, artists, gig/contract workers, retirees, etc.
@Bryan_275@AndrewYang Think of it as a negative income tax funded by taxing automation (VAT) & consolidating current welfare spending. Automation will skyrocket GDP but workers may not adapt quickly enough for massive job loss & creation in the new economy. https://t.co/VFyTqMG85Q
@saintshithead@rohitkuloth@AndrewYang Sweden doesn't have an official minimum wage, but labor unions regularly negotiate $20 or more for their workers.
@Sarah18585983@politico If that was true, Americans would not have voted Donald Trump to the presidency. Swing state voters were so desperate about job loss that they elected a narcissist reality tv star because they thought he would bring the old jobs back.
@BilldeBlasio Automation isn't inherently bad. It gives American businesses a leg up over outsourced labor. You need to help navigate the transition of job losses by allowing Americans to benefit from automation as the workforce gets trained for the jobs of the future.
@ABC According to the WaPo, homeownership rates for Millenials have risen to a 4-year high, while homeownership for African Americans have fallen to their lowest point since 1950. What is your outlook on this wealth gap and what are your long term goals for solving this problem?
@bitchylaughter @redhorseredhill @RachelAHerrera4@sczapel@LeftwardSwing@AndrewYang@SenSanders That's true. No one should work 40 hours a week and be in poverty. I felt the Bern in 2016 so I'm pretty familiar with his policies. Yang is talking about really important things like the threat of automation, so even if you don't vote for him, youtube his interviews or something
@bitchylaughter @redhorseredhill @RachelAHerrera4@sczapel@LeftwardSwing@AndrewYang@SenSanders That's true. Bernie's Medicare-for-All is the most comprehensive out of all the candidates. It's going to be the most expensive plan proposed by the Dems, but it's still going to be cheaper than what our current healthcare plan, so I'm all for it.
@bitchylaughter @redhorseredhill @RachelAHerrera4@sczapel@LeftwardSwing@AndrewYang@SenSanders You won't lose your Medicaid because it's not welfare. Yang is for Medicare-for-All. Yang and Buttigieg's M4A plans are more of a public option which allows for private insurers, while Bernie's is single payer which requires everyone to be on Medicare. https://t.co/srZZ0R5cAz
