We were so happy to showcase our trucks at NWA Birmingham's open house this past Saturday! Watching the partial annular eclipse with everyone was so much fun!! ๐๐ฉ๏ธ #bmxopenhouse#nwsbirmingham#alwx#tnwx
Our teams deployed in the field at 5AM ๐ค and collecting data ahead of the incoming QLCS. Teams are coordinating with other @PERiLS_Project facilities around the Jonesboro, AR area.
UAH ARMOR radar showing a pronounced hook echo, velocity couplet moving across Mooresville/Greenbrier and into Madison & Huntsville on the tornado-warned storm. #alwx#HUNwx

@eeeeelizzzzz@theweathermanda@cedavenportwx@mattwilsonwx This could actually make for an interesting modeling study. Run a high-res idealized model that we know produces a TLV on flat terrain and then slowly add rolling hills. May not be perfect given PBL representation in models, but maybe we learn something.
@eeeeelizzzzz@theweathermanda@cedavenportwx@mattwilsonwx This rings so true! I grew up in Huntington and was ALWAYS told growing up that tornadoes happen rarely in Huntington and never to our east. I never heard a good explanation of it, though.
Coming back from #AMS2023, got a pretty decent cloud physics lesion with some ice on the wing. Supercooled liquid clouds + surface to freeze on is a good recipe for ice formation!
Good morning #AMS2023! We are kicking off today with @TEGNicholasCode@j_wynn_smith Keven Blackman and @wxsean! Room 407 at 1:30. We will start with welcoming remarks from @Cyclogenesis_au. Be There!
So there are two bright lights in the N CO sky (Fort Collins). I think these are project loon balloons @Google ? Flight radar says theyโre 60K ft to the West. Sun angle would make for good reflection. #COwx
