Congrats on Fortnite's return to Android and Google Play!

When we met in Shanghai I raised a point that I believe is still the missing piece: Google's Developer Distribution Agreement still prohibits any app on the Play Store from facilitating distribution outside of Google Play. Word for word.

This means no game, no social app, no ad network on Google Play can direct users to the Epic Games Store — or any alternative store. The settlement opened the door for third-party stores to exist. But existence without discoverability is a death sentence. Apple's approach is arguably worse — their "alternative marketplace" framework creates an even more isolated island, where third-party stores exist in name but are walled off from any meaningful user flow.

I know this firsthand. TapTap — the Android game store I run — became one of the largest independent game platforms in China precisely because the Chinese Android ecosystem allows cross-promotion. Developers promote their "official packages" across every channel — social apps, ad networks, gaming communities — and those links lead to TapTap downloads. This cross-promotion is the oxygen that let TapTap grow.

If China's Android market had the same restrictions Google and Apple enforce, TapTap would not exist. Period.

And here's what China's open ecosystem proves: an open market isn't the security nightmare these platforms claim. Major developers, ad networks, and platforms are fully capable of handling review and quality control. Openness didn't break the market — it made it competitive.

Great progress. But until apps can freely point users to alternative stores — on both Android and iOS — the fight for truly open mobile platforms isn't over.

比如 TapTap 制造，就能让用户在我们给的额度（积分）之外使用自己的 ChatGPT 订阅来做游戏。我们负责：
1. 让用户在 TapTap 制造能比其他地方更容易地用 AI 做出复杂游戏。
2. 让游戏容易发布、分享，我们来负责托管好友关系、联机、开房匹配 ……
3. 甚至能让玩家使用自己的 AI 额度来玩游戏。
4. 让做出好游戏的作者能有体面的收入。
至于使用哪个 AI，付多少钱拿多少用量，应该由开发者和用户来选择。

这两天几乎同时发生的两件事：

1. Anthropic 更新了法律与合规条款（https://t.co/EhD2LRBwBy）：明确了订阅计划时所获得的 OAuth 认证只能用于一方产品（https://t.co/epJVGIultt 和 Claude Code）；在三方客户端和产品中使用 OAuth token 违反用户协议。

2. OpenAI 今天发布了 Codex App Server（https://t.co/epkacnr90R），第三方开发者可以把这个 binary 嵌进自己的产品（比如 OpenClaw、OpenCode、VS Code），然后由这个 app-server 来管 ChatGPT 的 OAuth 流程，第三方开发者拿不到 token，只能通过官方的 app-server binary 来中转。

Anthropic 聚焦 2B，API 比 2C 产品贵非常多，是主要收入来源，2C 的服务不能被 B 端用来薅羊毛。情有可原。

而 OpenAI 的这个方案：1. 标准化+方便了用户登录；2. 避免了把用户的 OAuth token 直接暴露给三方客户端；3. 能统计使用这些服务的开发者和产品；4. 方便合规与管理开发者。

用户，付的 ChatGPT 的月费，不仅买到 OpenAI 自己的产品使用权，将来还能畅用整个 Codex 生态的产品，⁠在所有一方和三方的 ChatGPT 产品上共享同一个额度，不用再为某个产品付订阅费。

第三方开发者，不需要向用户收费、不需要自己搞计费体系，只需要基本的服务（AI 时代之前本来就大量免费的），甚至只需要发一个客户端就行，收费的、免费的、甚至开源的。

我一直觉得，每个软件背后调用 LLM API 再向用户收取订阅费的模式，是之前 SaaS 时代留下的遗毒。Notion、Confluence、GitHub、Figma、Slack、Cursor、Perplexity ………… 等等，有必要每个都放几个 AI 的 Plan 在那然后用户付了钱还不能用到最好（贵）的模型、最好（贵）的还要额外再收费吗？？？这些产品都应该老老实实只收自己产品的那个价值的钱；让用户自己来选择和支付 AI 厂商的订阅，用户喜欢 ChatGPT 就付 ChatGPT 的，用量不足或者好模型不够用也不是你的锅。在 AI 时代，软件本身会变得极其廉价，而优秀的软件一定是能帮助用户更容易地使用 AI 来完成自己的任务，比如 OpenClaw。

再这么想下去，其实所有 2C 产品最后都是不需要用 API KEY 的。如果 OpenAI 这套能跑通，大量 Anthropic 现有的 API 开发者客户就会迁移成这种方式，API 收入一样会受影响。除非你能做到模型能力一直断崖式领先。

OpenAI 说不定真的因为这个策略，让开源软件生态变得极其极其繁荣。不得不说，招募了 @steipete 让 OpenAI 重拾了大量信誉，也搞对了产品方向。

Anthropic 本来拥有最好的开发者生态，Claude Code 从很早就开始还就支持 SDK 调用，开发者可以友好地把 Claude Code 内嵌进自己的产品。这套第三方 OAuth 标准如果是 Anthropic 来发布的，那会是继 MCP、Claude Code、SKILLS 之后又一个定义 AI 生态的标准。

只可惜 API 收入增长太强 ……
