No, I won't be standing in Clacton!
A few people have suggested me as a unity candidate in the by-election today (including the News Agents pod apparently).
It's flattering, thank you, but I'd rather have month-long un-anesthetised root canal work than get engaged in party politics.
It's for people with far thicker skin than me, and I think my independence from all parties is important.
Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens: I demand you stand down in Clacton. I will be a unity candidate and pledge to build at least one affordable house.
Nigel Farage says he wants The People versus the Establishment. So be it.
Leave him to me.
Clarification: Sky News was not at the property at 7.41am. As has already been acknowledged, and as shown in the footage from 10.19am, Sky News was outside a property where Mr Farage was registered to vote at the last election. Sky News did not interact with Mr Farage’s daughter.
On a single occasion, we approached the property without a camera operator, identified ourselves as Sky News, and the adult occupant chose not to engage. We were seeking to contact Mr Farage to ask questions about the gift he accepted from Mr Cottrell. This is a well-established and routine journalistic practice when reporting on matters of legitimate public interest.
The footage clearly demonstrates that Sky News did not “hound” or pursue Mr Farage’s daughter. At no stage did we seek to speak to anyone other than Mr Farage in connection with this story.
@SPT1603@Jas_Athwal You had the key word on your post. This MP declared everything. Farage didn’t declare all of his interests. Just like he didn’t declare the £5m either. Farage is a grifter and a con man. But hey ho it’s fine because he’s a man of the people.
@afneil A) as we’ve discussed before, you don’t need to quote tweet. B) You know as well as I do that extraordinarily concentrated wealth makes a difference to the lives of everyone in a democracy.
I decided to overlay this with the video from @SpaceflightNow so you can truly grasp the scale of the explosion. The still frame didn't really convey it that much.
Honestly such an insane thing to see, but knowing the dedication behind the team at Blue Origin, they will return better than before.
Good for him. There’s nothing wrong with a self-declared Muslim man going on Hajj - a key pilgrimage for religious Muslims. He’s allowed to practice his faith - we have in freedom of religion in the UK.
There’s a million reasons to criticise @SadiqKhan - this is not one of them.
Fuck today man the Knicks lost, the pope died, and Kanye told us he sucked his cousin’s dick for 8 years. 😴I’m going to bed early tomorrow gotta be a better day • https://t.co/jnbpt4Vpb3
@KemiBadenoch The Tories found religion when it came to church roofs, not when bishops warned them about Rwanda. When Christian leaders called it immoral and unworkable, the Tories ignored them and pressed on. Heritage for the camera, contempt for the clergy when it counted.
I seem to remember being on Question Time, a few months ago, in Dover…my constituency.
You were too scared to even put a Reform MP up for tonight it seems.
Weak.
The British government learnt of the data leak in August 2023.
24k Afghans secretly granted asylum, costing British taxpayers up to £7 billion.
The government covered it up.
Who was in government?
Home Secretary: Suella Braverman
Immigration Minister: Robert Jenrick
