ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), in a joint operation with the Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA), has dismantled an alleged illegal human placenta processing and export network during a raid in Islamabad's F-7 sector.

Five suspects, including Chinese nationals, were arrested while large quantities of fresh, dried and processed human placenta, along with processing equipment, were seized. According to FIA, the placenta was allegedly collected from hospitals in Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore, falsely declared as sheep organs and exported abroad, including to Vietnam. The seized samples have been sent to PIMS for forensic examination, while further investigations are underway.
