People hear physicist say "information" and think:

"Like book? Like facts? Like gossip?"

No.

Physics "information" not mean "knowledge."

Physics information mean: "Exact state of thing."

Where particle is.
How fast moving.
Spin. Energy. Quantum weirdness.
All tiny details that describe system.

If universe were giant cave ledger,
information is EVERYTHING written in it.

Important thing:

Physics say information cannot truly be destroyed.

Can scramble.
Can spread out.
Can become impossible for cavegirl to reconstruct.

But laws of physics say underlying information still there somewhere.

Example:

Burn scroll in fire.
Regular human say:
"Information gone."

Physics goblin say:
"No. Ink become smoke, heat and maybe ash. Air motion. If you could capture all that you could reconstruct. All details still encoded in universe if you could perfectly track every atom."

Not practical, But not technically erased.

This why black holes make physicists scream into void.

Black hole seem eat information forever.

If true?
Then physics break.

So giant smart tribe spent decades arguing:
"Where information go?"

Hawking radiation.
Quantum screaming. Other stuff we not know yet maybe. Very complicated cave arguments.

Not same word meaning.
