@LovejoyActual sure, I just think you're grossly overestimating the amount of skills that state conscription would provide the average conscript for the purposes of revolution.
@LovejoyActual both for individual leftists/radicals and for shaping party policy - the leftist "initiatives" within the military are tiny and limited entirely to (rightfully) condemning hazing and the various atrocities conscripts are forced to act upon migrants by higherups
@LovejoyActual I come from a place where we have national service, so everybody has to drop everything for a year of their life to learn how to shoot guns and songs about hating Muslims/other countries. The latter part of this is far more influential than the former in shaping future politics
+ interesting to see how much of a leading role the far left has had in guiding the (re)actions of the anarchist scene in Greece according to this Giannopoulos dude
currently about halfway thru "o brother! a history of the movement, the lively far left and its people".
never been particularly sympathetic towards the Diktyo group but this guy was around for seemingly everything that's happened in the greek "movement" since the 70s
@tienesraton@boguswaves1 some of his writings have been published to some success in Greece as "χαοτικά μανιφέστα" and I have had to explain the Wolfi child molestation lore to countless young extremists who (thankfully?) usually react w disgust!
We're so excited to share on behalf of the Edinburgh Anarchist Bookfair, this announcement of the first installment of this new era of Edinburgh's own anarchist bookfair!

everyone's saying he knows fuck all about greece, movements and communists there, but I think a funnier theory is that 3rd-worldist Gio Kay here is clearly parroting the LAE/ARAS line on eradicating anarchism / carrying portraits on demos
Anarchism is “a self-neutralizing, non-ideology in many respects” that fails to “identify the primary contradiction” as imperialism, said Evan Katsounis, a US-Greek anti-imperialist organizer, in an interview with VPol journalist @CallaWalsh.
■ “The statephobia that is inherent to anarchism” promotes a “notion of an ethical solidarity of all peoples against all regimes,” erasing the distinction between states that are “imperialist, Jewish supremacist, or white supremacist formations,” and the “anti-imperialist state and national movements within the periphery” struggling for liberation through their state-building projects.
■ “To be across the board in a dogmatic and uncritical way against all states in all circumstances… is an infantile analysis,” said Katsounis, arguing that organizers within the imperial core should focus on “building a strategy around anti-imperialist international principles in support of national liberation movements.”
■ Full interview will be published on VPol’s Youtube soon.
