Governor @GavinNewsom has selected Laphonza Butler to complete Senator Feinstein’s term.
A trusted adviser to @VP Harris and leader of the nation’s largest organization dedicated to electing women, Butler will make history as the first Black lesbian to openly serve in Congress.
Dianne Feinstein will be rightly remembered as a trailblazer—the first woman to serve as mayor of San Francisco and the first woman elected to the Senate from California. But once she broke those barriers and walked through those doors, she got to work.
I first got to know Dianne in the Senate, where she was a fierce advocate for gun safety measures and civil rights. Later, when I was president, I came to rely on her as a trusted partner in the fight to guarantee affordable healthcare and economic opportunity for everyone.
The best politicians get into public service because they care about this country and the people they represent. That was certainly true of Dianne Feinstein, and all of us are better for it. Today Michelle and I are thinking of her daughter, Katherine, and everyone who knew and loved her.
A team of birth keepers in Washington is drawing on Indigenous knowledge and culturally competent care to help Native women reclaim birthing practices, parenting practices, and community. They’re also saving lives. https://t.co/Yq0GMxmWIh
As a veteran, I know how hard it is for veterans to access health care. A federal government shutdown will have deadly consequences for the most vulnerable who served our country. Thank you, @POTUS and @GavinNewsom, for fighting for our service men and women.

Finally, some good news for our sick veterans, dying veterans & the families of vets exposed to toxic substances.
@POTUS has signed the #PACTAct, ensuring veterans with cancers & respiratory diseases caused by burn pits receive the VA health care they should have had all along!
