206 seats for BJP. 22 of 35 TMC ministers defeated, a 63% cabinet wipeout. A 92.93% turnout, the highest in the state’s history.

Verdicts of this geography and this magnitude do not happen because of machines. They happen because a state has been quietly making up its mind for years, on jobs, on the syndicate economy, on why its brightest young people now build their lives in Bengaluru and Pune instead of Kolkata.

As someone who has lived, worked and built in Bengal for decades, I have watched this mood form long before it arrived at the booth. It deserves to be read honestly.
