🚨🗞️NEW: Clarity Act Hits Ethics Snag as White House Courts Law Enforcement Support

🚨NEWS: A Dem source familiar with a bipartisan meeting between Senate lawmakers today described ethics negotiations as “rocky,” citing what they characterized as an “about-face” by GOP members and the White House on an agreement they say had previously been reached ahead of the Senate Banking Committee markup last month.
That agreement, I’m told, originally included a provision that would have allowed state attorneys general to sue the DOJ for failing to enforce certain ethics provisions.
GOP sources respond by saying that concerns were later raised by senators not involved in the ethics discussions about allowing state AGs to bring such actions against federal officials, including members of Congress.

Ways and Means Republicans rolled out six standalone bills and a discussion draft ahead of today’s crypto tax hearing at 2pm ET.
The bills address crypto donations, mining and staking taxation, reporting requirements, tax treatment parity, voluntary disclosure, and applying existing tax anti-abuse rules to digital assets. The discussion draft targets the use of offshore crypto tax shelters.

Big week ahead for Clarity. The work has continued in earnest behind the scenes since the Banking markup. The issue set has narrowed, and good faith offers are being put forward to close the gap. But time is of the essence.
🚨🗞️NEW: House Turns to Crypto Taxes as Clarity Act Negotiations Continue in the Senate
Plus, what we're watching this week and a roundup of weekend headlines. ⬇️

🚨SCOOP: The House Ways and Means Committee is circulating a package of SEVEN digital asset tax discussion drafts that would overhaul how crypto is taxed in the U.S.
The bills tackle everything from stablecoin transactions, mining and staking, crypto lending and wash sale rules to charitable donations and a voluntary disclosure program for taxpayers with past digital asset reporting issues.
The move effectively breaks apart the broader Miller-Horsford Digital Asset PARITY Act, as well as similar legislation introduced last year by @SenLummis, into a series of standalone proposals.
The drafts will likely feature prominently at Tuesday’s scheduled Ways and Means hearing on crypto taxation.
🇺🇸 UPDATE: Sen. Cynthia Lummis says passing the CLARITY Act before the July 4 recess is possible, but August may be a more realistic timeline as lawmakers work to combine multiple crypto-related bills.
Another major milestone for the adoption of stablecoins in mainstream payments.💪

14 years ago, we got together with an idea to build a better way to move value. What happened next was something none of us could have built alone.
And by "us," I don't just mean the three of us.
I mean the developers, validators, businesses, community members, and everyone who helped shape XRP into what it is today.
Happy Birthday, XRP!
