We, university students declare non-violent rebellion against all academic institutions who've promised us futures but have been silent about the climate crisis
They say that 2019 is the year the world woke up. On March 9th, 2020, students will demonstrate that students around the world are not just awake: we are angry, and we are organized. Join us at NY City Hall at 10 AM

28% of all new income from global GDP growth over the past 40 years has gone to the richest 1% (all millionaires).
In other words, nearly one third of the labour we've rendered, the resources we've extracted, the CO2 we've emitted has been done to make rich people richer.
Hey @Chase, did you really thing you could be the #1 banker of fossil fuel companies AND the #1 banker of the 100 top-polluting corporations and get away with it? Playtime’s over. We’re coming for you. #StopTheMoneyPipeline#DivestChase@jpmorgan
Truly wonderful Earth Day morning news, as American University divests from fossil fuels.
Students and faculty worked so hard here, over many years, through repeated setbacks--and now they've won a mighty victory!

BREAKING: Oxford University divests from fossil fuels!
Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and we're still waiting for Yale to catch up to its peer institutions, scientific consensus, and the rest of the world: fossil fuels are not the future.

So lemme get this straight.
When Native peoples stand unarmed to defend our land & all human life, we get answered with militarized force, jail, prison.
When white folks knowingly disregard human life during a health pandemic, not a single arrest.
April 22 will be the 50th anniversary of #EarthDay. We’ll been demanding a just society and a livable future for all. Join @_WeThePlanet_ and @pollutersout for a digital day of action: https://t.co/bp1jR3zx2X
If only this were for real (sorry, it's not): "@Google" announcing that it will finally stop funding climate change deniers. https://t.co/IIFyvvfCeW #AGreenerGoogle
We've proven our communities can respond with urgency when we tell the truth about the emergency we're facing. As we recover from COVID-19, let's turn that energy toward the other emergency that endangers all our lives. #flattenthecurve

“Divest or death. Which side are you on?”
Great read about the ongoing struggle to #divest Northwestern, one of the USA's premier universities, from fossil fuels.

3.Decolonize. Our institutions’ histories are intertwined with colonization. Universities, especially through use of People’s Assemblies, can help account for these injustices by defining and implementing strategies for a just transition.

2. Democratize. As the home of scientific experts, thought leaders from the humanities, and diverse demographics/opinions, our institutions are the perfect incubators to model People’s Assemblies, a form of participatory democracy that has repeatedly cut through gridlock.
