@azraelskye1267@crow_fen Yeah which thermally blooms (as it hits air molecules) and the elastic/inelastic collisions turn it into a cone as it goes out, a tungsten slug doesnt
@MansMcg@crow_fen Im just saying if we had MI fusion reactors and M particles blinding every radar system on earth DARPA wouldnt come up with a gundam but a entirely new class of fighters breaking physics
@MansMcg@crow_fen Maneuverability is dictated by PE, KE and lift, which a gundam throws out the window and simply uses brute force thrust (which if a fighter used that thrust it would turn even harder)
@azraelskye1267@crow_fen A railgun would be the best choice if we had a semi infinite power source, you dont have to pack propellant at all and it doesnt suffer from atmospheric diffraction to limit its range v. a M beam
@MansMcg@crow_fen Even the USAF will have 33% of its fighters just unable to fight at any given moment due to maintenance. A gundam with its arm, leg and finger joints... why bother instead of fielding proper armor and fighters, not some jack of all trades master of none, war is a logistics game
@MansMcg@crow_fen Yeah and a fighter with a minovsky powerplant flies semi indefinitely off fusion fuel and their projectiles will inherit its velocity, the closure rate is going to be so fast the gundam has no hope of evading. There is no reason to take bipeds over tracked vehicles too
@azraelskye1267@crow_fen we take off the arms because we can just gimbal the weapons only and save weight, same for torso as it adds unnecessary vertical height and loses cover (if for land use), the head also isnt really needed as its a big shoot me sign... and you get a tank
